Created by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone in the early 1980s, they were an instant hit all over the world, not only for children, but for adults as well. people took their new fighting fantasy books everywhere!! The books were originally targeted at wimpy kids who were more of the 'stay at home type'. The ones who wanted that sense of adventure without the, danger, complete with your own adventure sheet, on which you record your findings and battle stubborn monsters. All you needed to have was a pair of die, an eraser and a pencil. the die were used to determine the young adventurers skill, stamina, and luck. Unfortunately, seeing as the books were game books, they did not appear on any sort of best seller list anywhere in the world. If the were on the best seller list, they would have dominated the charts for years. Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone have created over 50 books together and each of them have written more than thirty books as individuals.

In those thirty years since the first fighting fantasy book, the pair have sold over 200 million stories world-wide, and they are not stopping there, there has lately been rumors of a new series of novels and even a movie based on fighting fantasy itself. So absolutely everywhere, kids as well as adults still enjoy their game books. Some have even set up special cafes and secret headquarters only permitted for people who want to read their books in peace.
